About This Lesson
A total body conditioning method developed in the 1920’s by legendary German physical trainer, Joseph Pilates. Mr. Pilates came to believe that the “modern” lifestyle, bad posture, and inefficient breathing lay at the roots of poor health. Pilates used components of his skills in yoga, gymnastics, martial arts and the study of the human body/posture to develop this form of exercise.
Pilates is so effective that it can dramatically transform the way your body looks, feels and performs by building strength without bulk. Pilates can be a nice complement to any form of exercise like weight lifting, dancing, sports, or it can be performed on its own. Over the years, many celebrities and professional dancers and athletes have successfully used this technique to get incredible, fast results.
Pilates uses unique, resistance apparatus, matwork, and mental conditioning to bring balance of body, mind and spirit. Pilates has a reputation for helping to correct postures, restore physical vitality, as well as, tone and elongate the body, especially your “core”.
